Vico Magistretti for Cassina Set of Six '905' Armchairs in Cognac Leather
Vico Magistretti for Figli Di Amedeo Cassina, set of six armchairs, model '905', leather, lacquered wood, Italy, 1964
Designed by Vico Magistretti and produced by Figli Di Amedeo Cassina, this early version of the celebrated 905 model is a striking example of Italian modern design. The chair's design features a solid clean-lined framework with emphasize on structural integrity while preserving an understated elegance. The armrests are formed by the upper section of the frame, which extends out horizontally before curving downward, meeting the legs at a slight angle. This curved design provides support while adding an elegant sweep to the chair’s profile. The chair’s legs are straight and cylindrical, giving it stability, and the overall proportions are balanced, with the backrest and armrests set at a comfortable height. The gentle curve of the backrest aligns seamlessly with the crescent-shaped armrests, forming a cohesive design that complements the rounded contours of the wooden elements. The seat and backrest are made from cognac leather that has aged wonderfully, featuring a vivid patina. The leather has been shaped to fit within the frame, providing a comfortable, ergonomic seating experience, while maintaining a sleek look.
Kindly note that the chairs are in good, used condition with some signs of age and use. For further details, we encourage you to reach out to our team of design specialists.
