Roger Capron Coffee Table in Ceramic with Floral Motif
Roger Capron, coffee table, ceramic, beech, mahogany plywood, France, 1960s
French coffee table with wonderful composed ceramic tiles by French ceramic artist Roger Capron. The table feature a vibrant motif of a flower created by differently colored fragments. A variation in color and textured surfaces combines into an admirable tabletop. The circular blossom is made of multiple rows of geometric pieces that range in color from dark brown, green, to beige and white. Two stylized leaves next to the stem of the flower create a strong symmetry. Yet, the tiles that Capron used to shape the leaves, are not the same. The background in beige tiles in different shades, strengthens the expression of the floral motif. The designer signed his piece on the tabletop.
