Rare Carlo Bartoli for Rossi di Albizzate 'Bogo' Sofa in Blue Grey Leather
Carlo Bartoli for Rossi di Albizzate, modular 'Bogo' sofa, leather, Italy, 1976
A postmodern design by Italian master of architecture and design Carlo Bartoli (1931-2020) known for his works that are immediately recognisable. Design in the seventies was all about going beyond the strict conventions of modernism, with the exploration of the different qualities of materials, use of pop colors, and peculiar & symbolic appearances as outcome. Ordered in a curved line, this seamless seating system consists of five elements and one ottoman, which gives the opportunity to create different configurations. The shape of the sofa reminds of a cascade. The outer frame in grey resembles a rock formation and the multi-layered blue cushions water falling down the steep hill. Maximum comfort is guaranteed by means of the thick seating cushions and the large seats. Defined by simplicity, clarity and absence of ornamentation, this piece of furniture is exemplary of architectural minimalism.
