Pierre Cruège Pair of Dining Chairs in Oak and Straw
Pierre Cruège, pair of dining chairs, oak, straw, France, 1950s
Sculptural set of dining chairs by French designer and architect Pierre Cruège (1913-2003) that combines a modernist approach with Art Deco inspired forms. For instance, the model features a sturdy backrest, consisting of two wooden elements connected to each other by four vertical slats. This feature adds a sculptural appeal to the design. The seat gets its rustic and provincial appearance by means of the woven straw and the overall construction.
