Pia Manu Unique Handcrafted Double Bed in Wrought Iron
Pia Manu, double bed, wrought iron, Belgium, 1960s
This one of a kind bed designed in the workshop of Pia Manu is truly spectacular. The most prominent feature is the sizeable headboard that is executed in wrought iron. Sharp geometrical weld lines are left visible on purpose as a strong decorative feature. A half tester iron canopy is prominently placed above the bed, giving this bed an almost medieval appearance. The iron material used for the bedframe displays a diverse range of grey and brown tones, resulting from the intricate metalworking that has been employed to craft this captivating color palette.
Pia Manu is a workshop from Ingelmunster, Belgium. Here, amongst others, Jules Dewaele and his son Koen Dewaele designed several design pieces during the 60s. Pia Manu is still working along similar lines, with natural materials such as stone and travertine combined with ceramics.
