Pair of Italian Dining Chairs in Brown Upholstery
Pair of dining chairs, beech, fabric, Italy, 1960s
These dining chairs of Italian origin have a strong resemblance to Augusto Savini’s 'Pamplona' chair (1965) and Afra & Tobia Scarpa's 'Pigreco' chair (1959-1960), yet this design is different in its details. Strong vertical and horizontal lines create a strong, architectural expression. The back of the seat is supported by a wooden frame consisting of two parallel placed wooden slats, which is further connected to the front legs. An additional slat is adjusted in between front and back legs to stabilize the construction, but also to add another strong line. Brown fabric is used to upholster the whole seat, which perfectly matches the beech wood.
Please note that we advise reupholstery before use. This item contains some threadbare upholstery with stains and tears. Reupholstery can be done before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece contains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
