This well-detailed easy chair features an outstanding cherry frame in which the legs and armrest are display a continuous line. The chair has a sculptural cherry wooden base, and holds a fluent, curved appearance, especially when seen from the side. The high back and curved frame give this chair a stately aesthetics. Apart from its obvious beauty, the chair is highly comfortable and provides a pleasant sitting experience. Alfred Hendrickx was familiar with his go-to material from a young age through the furniture manufacturing business of his family: wood. His structures transition effortlessly from one form to another, creating an organic and modern symphony that aptly describes his work.
Belgian designer Alfred Hendrickx established himself as a full-fledged designer in the the post-war years. Tied to the Mechelen-based producer Belform in the 1950s through family connections, he emerged as a designer whose style is akin to great names in design such as Gio Ponti, Eero Saarinen, and Carlo Mollino.
