Mats Theselius for Källemo AB Limited Edition Lounge Chair 'El Dorado'
Mats Theselius for Källemo AB, lounge chair 'El Dorado’, limited edition, brass, nubuck leather, maple, Sweden, 2002
This distinct 'El Dorado’ lounge chair by Mats Theselius was designed in 2002 for the 11th anniversary of the earlier edition called the ‘Elk Leather Chair’. His main sources of inspiration for this chair were the Army Museum in Stockholm and the Swedish Royal Armory, where he could see old armor and to learn about metal processing. This chair features a body of patinated brass on four legs. The round form is finished on top with a bent piece of maple that follows the curve. The seat and backrest are upholstered in nubuck leather. Generally, Mats Theselius is known for his a-typical designs, most of them produced in limited editions and all of them manufactured by Källemo Sweden. This functional and aesthetic piece is another great example of his style and inventiveness with bold shapes and materials. This chair is part of the EA series consisting of 9 chairs.
