Lorenzo Burchiellaro Console Table in Copper
Lorenzo Burchiellaro, console table, copper, stained beech, Italy, 1960s
This magnificent console table is created by Italian designer and sculptor Lorenzo Burchiellaro (1933-2017) in the 1960s. The copper is in beautiful, patinated condition and the vibrant yet natural oxidation and golden color is something out of this world. He is known for his artistic use in metals and the creation of decorative objects and furniture. His materials of choice are always often metals, gold, silver, aluminum, zinc and in this case copper. The fact that Burchiellaro is a sculptor is visible in this table that could easily function as a piece of art. The rectangular top rests on round wooden feet. The way Burchiellaro arranged straightly cut copper pieces on the top, creates a striking patchwork appearance with vibrant shades of colors. Therefore, the table is unique not only in its composition. The lines of round press stamps are visible too and underline the handcrafted nature of this table.
