Lorenzo Burchiellaro Coffee Table in Copper
Lorenzo Burchiellaro, coffee table, copper and wood, Italy, 1960s.
This coffee table is an absolute eye-catcher. The copper is in beautiful, patinated condition and the vibrant yet natural oxidation and golden color is something out of this world. Lorenzo Burchiellaro (1933 -) is an Italian designer and sculptor. He is known for his artistic use in metals and the creation of decorative objects and furniture. His materials of choice are always often metals, gold, silver, aluminum, zinc and in this case copper. The fact that Burchiellaro is a sculptor is visible in this cocktail table that could easily function as a piece of art. This design is no exception. With the rectangular top that rests on low round feet the table is unique not only in its composition. Also the way Burchiellaro arranged straightly cut copper pieces on the top, creates a striking patchwork appearance with vibrant shades of colors. The lines of round press stamps are visible too and underline the handcrafted characteristics of this coffee table. The table is stamped with 'burchiellaro'.
