Large A.R.D.I.T.I. for Sormani Floor Lamp 'Ponte' in Marble and Metal
Studio A.R.D.I.T.I. for Sormani Nucleo Division, floor lamp model 'Ponte', Carrara marble, chrome-plated metal, acrylic, Italy, 1971
Lighting sculpture by Studio A.R.D.I.T.I. for Sormani Nucleo Division. This wonderful artistic floor lamp spans an arch in your room. From two bases in marble two thin stems in chrome span across. Two adjustable spheres create a lovely light. The geometric shapes and subtle material combination, contributes to the modern appearance of the lamp.
The family-owned company Sormani was established in 1961 in the northern Italian town of Arosio. At the end of the sixties, the firm distinguished itself by its avant-garde furniture and furnishings in plastics. Richard Neagle was among the first using vacuum-formed plastic for the creation of his ‘Nike’ furniture line in 1968. The Nucleo Division was particularly focused on lighting experimenting with different forms and materials, which resulted in sculptural and artistic appearances.
Please note that the marble contains minor chips on the corners. The lamp needs to be rewired. This can be done before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece contains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized restoration is possible as well.
