This table is solid, architectural and robust. Design qualities that are both typical for Spanish midcentury design and especially for the works of Jordi Vilanovo. Although his work is known to have traits of Scandinavian design, his design is quintessential for Mediterranean design and is both functional and clear.
This architectural table is designed by Jordi Vilanova i Bosch for the Caves Codorniu. It functioned here in the wine cellar as a table. The table was especially designed for Codorniu.
Jordi Vilanova I Bosch (1925-1998) was a Catalan interior designer. He was trained as a cabinetmaker and later on developed his skills to design furniture. In 1960, he founded the multidisciplinary group “La Cantonada” and he was founder and promoter of the Catalan Art Magazine “Art Questions” (1967-1974). During the 1960s and 1970s, he mainly devoted himself to the design of children's furniture. Since the seventies he has done interior design works for commercial establishments, offices, banks and residences.
