Jens Risom 'Vostra' Lounge Chair with Ottoman in Canvas Webbing
Jens Risom for Walter Knoll, 'Vostra' chair with ottoman, beech, canvas, brass, United States, design 1941, production 1950s
An elegant lounge chair with ottoman featuring exquisite canvas webbing, this piece showcases the refined design sensibilities of Jens Risom, who created it in 1941. Each soft pink coral-colored canvas strap is meticulously attached to the wooden frame with brass nails, adding a touch of sophistication. The tapered legs contribute to the chair's elegant and airy appearance. Walter Knoll famously advertised this chair with the keywords: ‘form, structure, economy,’ highlighting its beautiful design born out of material scarcity. Initially, leftover military nylon was ingeniously repurposed for the seat and backrest.
Kindly note that the canvas is in used condition with signs of age and use, including stains. Reupholstery is possible before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
