Italian Post-Modern Set of Twelve Armchairs in Purple Corduroy and Steel
Set of twelve dining chairs, corduroy fabric, lacquered steel, Italy, 1980s
A Memphis-inspired design defined by an interplay of curved and linear elements, creating a composition that is both fluid and dynamic. The frame consists of slender tubular steel coated in an off-white hue, bent into organic yet structured lines that challenge conventional seating geometry. The four legs, slightly splayed, provide a sense of movement and lightness, while their rounded terminations maintain a soft, continuous visual flow. The seat is a simple, circular form, harmonizing with the curvature of the armrests that are integrated seamlessly into the frame. Above it, the backrest extends as an elongated oval, positioned at a slight angle, subtly detaching from the seat to create a floating effect.
Kindly note that the chairs are in good, used condition. The fabric contains wear marks. The surface of the frame is marked by numerous scratches and areas of paint loss. Reupholstery and restoration is possible before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery and restoration is possible as well.
