This impeccably balanced bookshelf features a sleek rectangular form, defined by strong vertical and horizontal lines, offering ample storage space. Hendrik Wouda (1885-1946) was a Dutch designer and architect. After studying at the Academie voor Beeldende en Technische Wetenschappen and the Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague, Wouda started working at the office of the famous architect H.P. Berlage. During World War I, Wouda began working for the renowned furniture company Pander & Zonen in The Hague. Here, he developed a very statuesque style that was inspired by the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. This style, also known as the New Hague School, is characterized by sober and sleek designs.
