French Armchair with Red Wooden Frame and Straw Seat
Armchair, beech, straw, France, 1960s.
Stunning French armchair with red beech frame and classic organic straw seat. This chair features a solid wooden frame, consisting of cylindrical thick legs that are connected to each other with elegant slim horizontal slats. The way this chair is designed shows a strong resemblance to the 'Dordogne' chairs designed by Charlotte Perriand. Particularly the characteristic method of folding straw rope vertically, which leaves this typical horizontal line in the middle of the back and the seat.
Kindly note that the piece is in good, used condition with signs of age and use. This includes scratches on the wooden parts and one small imperfection in the straw. Restoration is possible before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized restoration is possible as well.
