Pierre Paulin for Artifort F444 Lounge Chair Lacquered Metal & Mesh Fabric
Pierre Paulin for Artifort, lounge chair, model 'F-444', lacquered metal, mesh fabric, The Netherlands, 1962
This F-444 chair is designed by Pierre Paulin for Artifort in 1962. This chair features sharp lines and an angled open seat, imparting the piece with a floating look. The metal and the mesh combine to form a modern expression, typical for Dutch mid-century modern design.
Pierre Paulin (1927-2009) was a French post-war designer who studied sculpture. Paulin saw the importance of the social role of design and for this he looked at Nordic modernity and simplicity for inspiration. A great talent of Paulin was that he could envision the concepts of his furniture in 3D in his mind. Paulin was someone who researched his design thoroughly.
Kindly note that the chair is in used condition with signs of use. This includes wear on the lacquer and mesh. Restoration or reupholstery is possible before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier.
