Artifort Armchair Model '905' in Metal and Fabric Upholstery

Sale price$2,225.00

Artifort, lounge chair model '905', metal, fabric upholstery, the Netherlands, design 1964

The Artifort '905' armchair was designed by the company in 1964. Although the design was created in the sixties, thanks to its very modest and clean look, it still feels modern today. The model radiates class through the usage of sleek and slim lines. The legs and frame are created in a metal chrome.

Artfifort was founded by Jules Wagemans in Maastricht in 1890. During this period, the company only focused on the upholstery of furniture. Wagemans’ son, Henricus, changed the business to a furniture factory. During this period, the company was called ‘H. Wagemas & Van Tuinen’, but in 1928 they officially changed their name to ‘Artifort’. Deriving from Latin, ‘Ars’ meaning art or knowledge and ‘ Fortis’ meaning strong, the name refers to one of their biggest fundaments: creating good quality but aesthetically pleasing designs.
