Willy Van Der Meeren for Tubax Chairs in Oak

Sale price£263.48

Willy Van Der Meeren for Tubax, chairs, metal, oak, Belgium, 1957.

This pair of industrial chairs is designed by the Belgian designer Willy Van Der Meeren. These sober yet interesting and moody set of chairs features a seat- and backrest in oakwood and metal tubular frame. Solid wood versions of these chairs were uncommon in that period of time, as the majority were crafted using veneer, making these chairs more special. This design is exceptionally strong and durable. The bent tubular frame supports the sitter in a strong manner.

Willy Van Der Meeren (1923-2002) was a Belgian architect and furniture designer. A true modernist with a high social commitment. His designs are characterized by a modern approach and simplicity in forms and materials.
