Willy Rizzo for Mario Sabot, sectional corner sofa, Kvadrat Harald 3 - 0952, wood, Italy, 1970s.
This rare sofa is designed by Willy Rizzo in the 1970s. This alignment consists of six elements. The cushions as well as the frame are upholstered in a green velvet fabric by Kvadrat. This sofa is based on clear lines and angular shapes, which contributes to the unit's streamlined and minimalist look. The tilted backrest and large seat provides ultimate comfort for the sitter.
Willy Rizzo (1928-2013), born in Naples, was a celebrity and Hollywood photographer. His models included Brigitte Bardot and Audrey Hepburn. At a later stage in life, Rizzo discovered that his clientele loved his particular aesthetics and sense for style so much that he decided to design furniture. Often his designs where commissions from for example Salvador Dali or Marilyn Monroe. From the end of the 1960s onwards, Rizzo designed about thirty different furniture pieces.
