Reupholstered Danish Sofa with Sculptural Frame and White Upholstery

Sale price£11,924.05

In the manner of Viggo Boesen, sofa, fabric Gabriel 'Savak', stained beech, Denmark, 1940s

This charming sofa is designed in the manner of Danish designer Viggo Boesen (1907-1985), whose oeuvre is marked by organic movement and the use of honest, natural materials such as rattan. The sofa also shares characteristics with the work of Alfred Christensen. This piece embodies a splendid construction based on curvaceous lines and round corners. The wooden armrest and legs are organically built featuring a subtle motion established by slightly bending the wood. The back develops in a modest winged shape on both ends, and together with the transparent layout of the wooden frame, the sofa gets a more inviting and open look. The style is simple and understated, where clear, fluent lines are allowed to emerge in the design. The sofa is newly reupholstered in the fabric named 'Savak' by Gabriel.
