Rare Carl Malmsten Dining or Conference Table in Walnut and Black Leather

Sale price£11,287.61

Carl Malmsten, dining or conference table, walnut, leather, Sweden, 1940s.

Sizeable dining table that, due to its length, could easily function as a conference table as well. This table is designed by Swedish designer Carl Malmsten. The boat shaped table top is executed in walnut veneer and black leather and contains a solid walnut edge band. The combination of the black color with the warm walnut grain pattern is absolutely striking. Eight tapered walnut wooden table legs support this grand table top. Thanks to its size, this table offers plenty of space for a large company to gather.

Carl Malmsten (1888-1972), a Swedish architect and designer, gained significant recognition for his contributions to the Swedish Grace style. This design movement emerged during the 1920s, serving as a deliberate response to the opulent and ornate characteristics of the Art Nouveau movement. Central to the Swedish Grace style is simplicity, refined elegance, use of natural materials, functionality, and appreciation for nature and Swedish traditions and craftsmanship.

Please note that the item is in good, used condition. The leather shows signs of age and use. For further details, we encourage you to reach out to our team of design specialists.
