Pia Manu Handcrafted Coffee Table in Travertine

Sale price£21,629.51

Pia Manu, coffee table, travertine, iron, Belgium, 1960s

This unique, handmade piece is designed in the workshop of Pia Manu. Due to the artistic use of materials and texture combinations, the coffee table has a strong decorative character and hits the border between piece of art and furniture design. The surface of the top is artistically fragmented illustrating differently sized travertine pieces, adding a haptic and graphical visualization to the design. Crafted from cut and wrought iron, the base is architecturally built with arched legs dominating the base. The massive look of the top beautifully contrasts with the open and clean layout of the base. Along the side of the table, is a small ceramic 'Pia Manu' stamp situated.

Pia Manu is a workshop from Ingelmunster, Belgium. Here, amongst others, Jules Dewaele and his son Koen Dewaele designed several design pieces during the 60s. Pia Manu is still working along similar lines, with natural materials such as stone and travertine combined with ceramics.
