Pia Manu Hand Crafted Room Divider in Burnished Concrete and Stained Glass

This unique piece of art is assembled in the workshop of Pia Manu and is a great testament to their expertise in materialization and remarkable craftsmanship. The construction is artistically fragmented, displaying an asymmetrical composition of massive spindles. The burnished concrete used for the construction has a rough and relief-like property, which gives the unit a robust and natural quality. Glass works varying in size, composition and color are implemented between the spindle frames and distributed inconsistently over the surface. The glass gives the illusion of stained glass windows reached through the way the pieces are held together by the concrete. When the light shines through the sculpture, the glass works get beautifully highlighted, which contributes to the unit's mystical and gothic aura.

Pia Manu is a workshop from Ingelmunster, Belgium. Here, amongst others, Jules Dewaele and his son Koen Dewaele designed several design pieces during the 60s. Pia Manu is still working along similar lines, with natural materials such as stone and travertine combined with ceramics.
