Model '811' Dining Chairs by TON
TON, dining chairs, model '811', beech, Czech Republic, 1950s.
These iconic chairs made after the design by Josef Hoffmann in the 1920s and manufactured by TON in the 1950s. This 811 design combines Hoffmann's interest in Art Nouveau with his preference for simple shapes. They feature a minimalistic bentwood frame with plastic webbing seats and backs.
TON was founded after World War Two in former Thonet factories and continued with the furniture making tradition set up by Thonet. In the 1960s, TON asked various architects to contribute to research and developments of new designs using the technology of bentwood and leading to new, more contemporary designs.
Kindly note that these chairs are in good, used condition with visible wear on the wooden frames. For further details, we encourage you to reach out to our team of design specialists.
