Maurice Pré Cabinet in Solid Oak and Brass
Maurice Pré, cabinet, oak, brass, glass, France, 1950s
This exquisite highboard in solid oak is designed by the French designer Maurice Pré (1908-1988) in the 1950s. It features a variety of different cabinets; two closed cabinets on both ends strengthen the design, with space left open in the middle section. Behind sliding doors executed in glass, four glass shelves are installed to put once's special belongings on for display. Underneath this upper compartment, some space is left open to create an almost floating impression. The lower compartment shows a horizontal sideboard containing four drawers. The handles are made of brass and combines beautifully with the warm tone of the oak wooden frame. The overall design shows a well thought out division of open and closed parts; making this highly versatile cabinet efficient yet elegant at the same time.
