Maurice Burke for Arkana Set of Six Swivel Chairs in Fiberglass and Metal
Maurice Burke for Arkana, set of swivel chairs, model '116' fiberglass, metal, fabric, United Kingdom, 1960s.
Set of six swivel chairs designed by Maurice Burke for Arkana. Its design resembles Eero Saarinen's famous 'Tulip chair' which he designed for Knoll International. A distinctive set of chairs and iconic for the so called 'Space Age' era of the sixties. These chairs feature a black fiberglass seat, molded into one fluid cast. A refined detail are the sharp folded edges of the seat that provide armrests for these chairs. Complemented with ocean blue cushions to generate extra comfort. A steel base with four feet support the seat.
