Johannes Spalt for Wittmann 'Constanze' Daybed in Checkered Upholstery
Johannes Spalt for Wittmann, sofa or daybed 'Constanze', fabric, steel, Austria, 1960s.
This Austrian daybed named 'Constanze' is typical for Mid-Century Modern design. The tufted fabric seat and back is constructed by means of a slick and clean metal frame. This particular model, with metal frame and grey upholstery is wonderfully balanced in its color palette. The straight slim legs create an open feeling and give the sofa the needed air to come across less solid and robust. By only one hand movement the 'Constanze' turns from a comfortable sofa to a daybed.
Please note that we advise reupholstery before use. This item might contain some threadbare upholstery with loose seams and small stains. Reupholstery can be done before shipping by our experienced craftsmen and -women in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece contains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
