Italian Pair of Dining Chairs in Off-White Upholstery and Black Frame
Pair of dining chairs, fabric, lacquered wood, Italy, 1970s
Italian dining chairs that have a strong resemblance to Augusto Savinis 'Pamplona' chair (1965) and Afra & Tobia Scarpa's 'Pigreco' chair (1959-1960) yet this design is different in its details. Strong vertical and horizontal lines create a strong, architectural expression. The curved back- and armrest is hold by two paired legs in the back and two in front. An additional slat is adjusted in between both front legs to stabilize the construction but also to add another strong line. The black frame forms a striking contrast with the off-white upholstery.
