Italian Adjustable Counterweight Pendant Lamp

This ceiling lamp is an excellent example of the 'new style' Italian lighting designs of the 1950s and 1960s. Executed in a fashion that references Christian Dior's post-war 'New Look' flowing dresses and skirts, this pendant is elegant yet functional. The height of the shade is adjustable by moving the metal counterweight that is part of the fabric covered wiring. The brass pulleys are a wonderful detail. The black metal lacquered shade has a diffuser, creating a soft light.
