Hartmut Lohmeyer for Wilkhahn Pair of Lounge Chairs with Ottoman
Hartmut Lohmeyer for Wilkhahn, pair of lounge chairs with ottoman, teak, cane, fabric, Germany, 1962
These organically shaped lounge chairs by Hartmut Lohmeyer showcase a wide open wooden frame with a gentle tilt in the back, adorned with cane. The softly curved armrests and open frame create a serene and welcoming atmosphere. The cushions are executed in a brownish-red velvety upholstery. The chairs come with a matching ottoman. The design's airy and lightweight aesthetic is attributed to the delicate and intricate frame.
Trained as an architect at the Technische Hochschule in Karlsruhe, Hartmut Lohmeyer (1923-) honed his skills under the guidance of renowned architect Egon Eiermann. Transitioning into furniture design, Lohmeyer made a name for himself by creating exquisite home furniture, notably for Wilkhahn during the 1950s and 1960s.
