Hartmut Lohmeyer for Wilkhahn Lounge Chair in Teak and Cane
Hartmut Lohmeyer for Wilkhahn, lounge chair, teak, cane, fabric, Germany, 1960
These organically shaped lounge chairs by Hartmut Lohmeyer showcase a wide open wooden frame with a gentle tilt in the back, adorned with cane. The softly curved armrests and open frame create a serene and welcoming atmosphere. The design's airy and lightweight aesthetic is attributed to the delicate and intricate frame.
Hartmut Lohmeyer (1923-) was trained as an architect at the Technische Hochschule in Karlsruhe. Here he studied architecture under Egon Eiermann and later became a furniture designer. He developed furniture for the home in particular for Wilkhahn in the 1950s and 1960s.
