Giuseppe Rivadossi Geometric Side Table in Oak
Giuseppe Rivadossi, side table, oak, Italy, 1970s
This delightful side table, designed by Italian sculptor and artisan Giuseppe Rivadossi, is a good example of woodworking artistry. Its striking design features a distinctive touch: on one side of the table, a series of inward zig-zag carvings create a dynamic, asymmetric element, adding a contemporary twist to a classic silhouette. The precision and attention to detail in these carvings lend a sense of movement and depth, while the crisp lines offer an engaging visual contrast to the rest of the smooth, polished wood. The beauty of the oakwood takes center stage, with its pronounced grain wood pattern and warm radiance. A versatile piece of furniture as it can be used as a side table in a living room, a nightstand in a bedroom, or an artful accent in a hallway.
Giuseppe Rivadossi (1935) was born in Monteclana di Nave, Italy, where he still lives and works. At a young age, Rivadossi's path begins with wood carving, with works reflecting on his poetic idea of living. In 1962, Rivadossi took over the carpentry founded in 1920 by his father Clemente, which he transformed into an atelier, or rather a creative workshop. Eventually, Rivadossi and collaborators established 'Officina Rivadossi' in 1976 where he started the manufacture of wooden objects and unique modern furniture.
