Giuseppe Rivadossi for Officina Rivadossi Table or Desk in Walnut and Iron

Sale price£12,452.50

Giuseppe Rivadossi for Officina Rivadossi, table, walnut, iron, Italy, 1970s

Giuseppe Rivadossi once again proves his great eye for materialization and technicality this table is exemplary for. The walnut tabletop of this design is gracefully supported by two angular wooden bases, connected by a striking arrangement of blackened iron rods. This structural interplay not only ensures stability but also serves as a bold aesthetic statement, merging form with function. Rivadossi’s meticulous craftsmanship is seen in the hand-planed walnut surface, where each groove and contour marks the hand of the artist. The thoughtful treatment of the wood, combined with the industrial solidity of iron, creates a harmonious blend of elements.

Giuseppe Rivadossi (1935) was born in Monteclana di Nave, Italy, where he continues to live and work. His journey with wood carving began at a young age, each piece embodying his poetic vision of life. In 1962, Rivadossi took over the carpentry business founded by his father, Clemente, in 1920, transforming it into an atelier, or rather a creative workshop. In 1976, Rivadossi and his collaborators established ‘Officina Rivadossi’, where he began crafting unique wooden objects and modern furniture, blending artistry with craftsmanship.
