Giuseppe Rivadossi Dining Table in Olive Ash with Red Thonet Armchairs
Dining room set consisting of Giuseppe Rivadossi for Officina Rivadossi dining table with set of ten Thonet Armchairs
Giuseppe Rivadossi for Officina Rivadossi, dining table, olive ash, Italy, 1985
Giuseppe Rivadossi once again proves his great eye for materialization and technicality this table is exemplary for. The table is architecturally built based on the assemblage of parts through sophisticated wood joints. The decorative aspect of the wood joints makes them not only necessary for the construction but also has a strong impact on the design itself and showcases the high-level of craftsmanship this table has been made with. An extraordinary piece, established by intensive hand-planed and trimmed finishes. This item embodies a striking textured surface that is hand carved by gouge cut, which gives this piece its distinctive aesthetics that Rivadossi is known for. A real masterpiece that will stand the test of time and serve as a standout in one's interior.
Giuseppe Rivadossi (1935) was born in Monteclana di Nave, Italy, where he continues to live and work. His journey with wood carving began at a young age, each piece embodying his poetic vision of life. In 1962, Rivadossi took over the carpentry business founded by his father, Clemente, in 1920, transforming it into an atelier, or rather a creative workshop. In 1976, Rivadossi and his collaborators established ‘Officina Rivadossi’, where he began crafting unique wooden objects and modern furniture, blending artistry with craftsmanship.

Thonet, set of ten armchairs, model 526 F, lacquered beech, rush, Germany, 1960s
Conceived by Thonet, the overall design of these dining chairs are simple yet elegant, with smooth curved armrests and a slightly arched backrest that provides a subtle shape and structure to the chair. The cylindrical legs of these chairs add a sense of understated elegance to their overall design. The rush seats give a rustic and organic touch to the chairs, while the simplified frame maintains a clean, minimalist modern aesthetic. With their red color and rush seats, the chairs remind of the Carimate design by Vico Magistretti.
