Gianfranco Frattini for Cassina 'Bull' Lounge Chair in Black Leather
Gianfranco Frattini for Cassina, 'Bull' lounge chair, Italy, 1980s
A monumental design by Gianfranco Frattini for Cassina. This piece was designed in 1987 and it shows typical traits for that period in art and design. This chair is bulky and fully made in a high quality thick black leather. The legs of this piece are cone shaped and executed in a black lacquered metal.
Gianfranco Frattini (1926-2004) was born in Padua and studied architecture at the Milan Politechnico. After his studies, Frattini started working for Gio Ponti until 1956. Afterwards, he opened his own practice in Milan and began creating his own designs. His work is mostly part of the generation that created the Italian design movement of the late 1950s through the 1960s. The designer eventually died in Milan in 2004.
Please note that this piece is in good, used condition. There are some signs of wear and use and a restoration on the side of the chair.
