Sale price£22,655.43

Ettore Sottsass for Poltronova, floor lamp, model 'Cometa' no. L026, acrylic, lacquered metal, chrome, Italy, design 1970

Funky and easy to love floor lamp designed by Ettore Sottsass for Poltronova in 1970. Most striking are the wavy outer lines of the perspex shade. Like all of Sottsass' designs, this lamp also features a quirky shape. As a designer, Sottsass liked to question assumptions on how a certain utensil or piece of furniture are supposed to look. Contrary to the organic shape of the shade, a square black lacquered metal base is used for this design. From there, are sizeable shade rises. A chrome support keeps the shade in place and creates an interesting line in the middle of the shade. But most of all, the different light color in pink and white truly adds up to this wonderful design.
