Sale price£1,534.52

Emanuele Rambaldi for Chiappe, chair, beech, straw, Chiavari, Italy, design 1933, production afterwards

Italian painter and furniture designer Emanuele Rambaldi (1903-1968) created this charming chair. The present model was first published in Domus magazine issue number 65 in May, 1933. The chair is described as: 'This model signifies style and true rationality, proportion between character and destination, successful insertion of local technical traditions in the current renewal of the arts. It is an honest, comfortable chair, and a nice chair.'. It is worth noting that a variant of this design, in the form of an armchair, was illustrated in Domus magazine issue number 128, titled "Le arte nella casa" in August 1938. The chairs were part of an apartment conceived by the visionary Italian designer group B.B.P.R.. The chairs graced the living room along with other pieces by various designers. The chair's overall silhouette is marked by modest refinement with rounded contours and open facets characterizing the piece. The interplay between the woven straw, the openings in the framework, and the wooden elements, converges to form a design that is both light and graceful.

Please note that this item is in good, used condition, including scratches on the framework and loose straw. For further details, we encourage you to reach out to our team of design specialists.
