Carlo Bartoli for Arflex Pair of 'Bicia' Lounge Chairs in Fiberglass

Sale price£8,633.76

Carlo Bartoli for Arflex, pair of 'Bicia' lounge chairs, fiberglass, fabric, Italy, 1969

A pair of white fiberglass-framed lounge chairs designed by Carlo Bartoli for Arflex in 1969. The flowing lines of the fiberglass back emphasize the elegance of the design, imparting a luxurious appearance. The fabric seating is adorned with beautifully executed diagonal stitching that gracefully extends over the back and armrests, adding a touch of sophistication and detail to these exquisite chairs.

Originally, the 'Bicia' chair was made for the interior of a theater-cabaret in Florence and eventually placed in regular production by Arflex. Its design can be compared with the 1967 'Gaia' chair. However, the padding in the 'Bicia' chair forms an integral part of the drawing, applied with a perimeter fastening system devised by Carlo Bartoli, whereas it was optional for the 'Gaia' chair.

Kindly note that these chairs are in good, used condition. The fabric shows some signs of wear and use. Reupholstery can be done before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece contains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
