Set of iconic multifunctional chairs by master designer Arne Jacobsen. These chairs were designed in 1955 and found their way into countless midcentury modern homes and offices. These chairs have a simplistic seat made out of layers of plywood that is formed into this shape that resembles a butterfly. The flexibility of the plywood offers comfort during long sittings and offers a natural look.

Arne Jacobsen (1902-1971), originally trained as an architect, is now mostly known for his furniture designs. It was only later in his career that Jacobsen created the pieces that he is now most known for. One of Jacobsen's main aims was to reduce material input to achieve clean visual lines. Technical quality and ergonomics were, however, not affected by the reduction. What is interesting is that where he followed mainly cubist functionalism in his architecture, he nevertheless mainly preferred organic forms in the design of his furniture. What all his works have in common, however is the application of the right proportions, both within a piece of furniture and in its relationship to the room.
