Adrian Pearsall 'Cloud' Sofa in Walnut and Sea Blue Upholstery
Adrian Pearsall, 'Cloud' sofa, walnut, fabric, United States, 1970s
This beautifully shaped sofa designed by Adrian Pearsall is characterized by a solid construction, featuring clear lines and round edges. The sofa displays gently curved armrests that contribute to an open and welcoming aesthetic. Adrian Pearsall was more often inspired by boats for his designs, which makes it no surprise that he pursued a career in yachts after he left the design world in the 1970s. The sofa can be placed in the middle of the room or away from the wall, providing the room a lively ambiance.
Adrian Pearsall (1925-2011), trained as an architectural engineer, was a sailor and interior designer. In 1952, Pearsall opened his own furniture company 'Craft Associates. Pearsall designed some of the most sensuous, gracious midcentury design pieces around, sharing many of the design aesthetics by Vladimir Kagan. His pieces are characterized by flamboyant curves, upswept shapes and stretched proportions.
