Adrian Pearsall Platform Sofa in Walnut and Blue Upholstery
Adrian Pearsall, sofa model '2167S', fabric, walnut, United States, 1960s
This 'boomerang' sofa has a unique shape with sharp and geometrical lines that create an almost monumental look. The walnut compartment on top echoes the general shape of the sofa in an interesting way. This piece is finished on the bottom with a walnut edge and small legs that uplift and support the piece, making it seem as if the sofa floats through the room.
Adrian Pearsall (1925-2011), trained as an architectural engineer, was a sailor and interior designer. In 1952, Pearsall opened his own furniture company 'Craft Associates. Pearsall designed some of the most sensuous, gracious midcentury design pieces around, sharing many of the design aesthetics by Vladimir Kagan. His pieces are characterized by flamboyant curves, upswept shapes and stretched proportions.
Please note that we advise reupholstery before use. This can be done before shipping by our experienced craftsman in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
