Adrian Pearsall '2300-S' Boomerang Sofa in Walnut and Off-White Fabric
Adrian Pearsall for Craft Associates, 'Boomerang' sofa, model '2300-S', newly reupholstered fabric, walnut, United States, 1960s
This striking sofa by Adrian Pearsall revolves around a sleek, angular design that fuses modern minimalism with mid-century elegance. Its sharp, clean lines form a unique L-shape, reminiscent of a boomerang silhouette. The walnut panel integrated into the backrest harmonizes seamlessly with the overall shape of the sofa, doubling as side shelf. Elevated on subtle, tapered legs, the sofa appears to hover above the floor, creating a sense of airiness despite its solid structure.
Adrian Pearsall (1925-2011), trained as an architectural engineer, was a sailor and interior designer. In 1952, Pearsall opened his own furniture company 'Craft Associates’. Pearsall designed some of the most sensuous, gracious midcentury design pieces around, sharing many of the design aesthetics by Vladimir Kagan. His pieces are characterized by flamboyant curves, upswept shapes and stretched proportions.
Kindly note that this sofa is in good, used condition. The sofa is reupholstered in our in-house atelier, and is perfectly ready to enjoy for many years.
