1940s Pair of Italian Lounge Chairs in Muted Green Upholstery and Walnut

Sale price£6,226.22

Pair of armchairs, fabric, walnut, Italy, 1940s

Italian in origin, these graceful chairs bridge the gap between the decorative flair of Art Deco and the sleek sensibilities of modernism. There is a softness to every transition on these chairs: you can see it in the armrests, which curve gently outward from the backrest and sweep down toward the seat without any hard angles. The top edge of the backrest features soft contours, giving it a rounded look rather than a strict rectangular shape. Even at the front where the arms meet the seat, the edges are rounded off instead of squared, creating a smooth flow around the chair’s perimeter. Although relatively short, the legs go noticed due to their subtle carved details, reflecting the chair’s traditional woodworking origins. The chairs are enveloped in a muted green fabric, while the seams are outlined with a contrasting cord trim in a lighter, golden-olive tone.

Kindly note that the chairs are in good, used condition. The fabric contains some signs of use. Reupholstery can be done before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
