Sale price£26,413.62

Writing desk, mahogany, Denmark, 1930s

This exquisite curved writing desk, crafted by a skilled Danish cabinetmaker in the 1930s, exemplifies the elegance and precision characteristic of Scandinavian furniture design. The piece can be visually divided into three sections. Beginning with its focal point, the smoothly curved, semi-circular shape highlighted by its array of storage compartments and drawers. The top section features multiple pigeonholes, thoughtfully spaced to store documents, letters, or writing materials. These pigeonholes are flanked by two additional small drawers fitted into the concave curved structure, which slopes downward towards the user. The central section features a writing surface with three drawers positioned directly beneath it on the front side. The legs of the desk are straight and square, providing a clean, stable foundation. A horizontal support structure in the form of a curved beam connects the rear legs, echoing the curve of the upper section. The desk is constructed from a mahogany wood with a vivid grain drawing and polished, warm finish, imparting the piece with a classic, refined look.

The mahogany type used for this piece does not require an export license.
