This pair of chairs is one of Vedel's most popular designs. The chairs feature a soft, loose cushion of leather. The backrest is made in leather too. The elements are all very well proportioned and the 'Modus' chair overall convinces with a great balanced, comfortable design.
Kristian Solmer Vedel (1923-2003) was a cabinetmaker who completed his apprenticeship as journeyman joiner in 1942. He went to the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts where he studied under Kaare Klint. Amongst others, Vedel worked for Tove and Evard Kindt-Larsen and Palle Suenson. In 1955 he opened his own design office. His design aesthetic is recognized by a strong sense for functionality and ergonomic qualities.
