Joe Colombo for Comfort, lounge chair model Elda, fiberglass and leather, Italy, design 1963, later production.

This 'Elda' armchair features its original black leather upholstery. The leather is in very good condition. This design is one of the first designs of Joe Colombo and the chair is named after his wife Elda. The fiberglass white shell body is fitted with black leather comfortable cushions that embrace the sitter and create a very high sitting comfort. Next to the ergonomic features, the leather shields the seater from surrounding happenings and ensures sound insulation, creating a private environment. The revolving system of 360 degrees rotation and the wheels still ensure the users’ mobility. The Elda chair soon became Joe Colombo’s trademark.

The Elda chairs also sits in the collection of (amongst others) the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Louvre in Paris.
