The pendant lamp model A331 by Alvar Aalto carries the nickname 'Beehive' since its shape awakes the assiciation with structure build by bees. Five layers of white lacquered metal are form an almost round shape. In between each layer there are brass lines with gaps so that the light through. Originally designed for Finland’s University of Jyäskylä the A331 is today one of Aalto's most famous light designs.
