Jan Vlug for Bergwood, center table wengé and metal, Belgium, 1970s.

Rare and exclusive dining table with a characteristic graphical base and stunning executed tabletop. The table is made by Belgian designer Jan Vlug, who was a close friend of Jules Wabbes. The influence of Wabbes is clearly visible in this table, the tabletop is executed with wengé in rectangular sections by using the end-grain wood technique. End-grain cut is particularly strong and shows a very refined patterned grain. This technique was mainly used 1970s Brussels designer Jules Wabbes. The base is made of lacquered metal. It consists of three frames, all consisting of 4 legs. The legs are geometrically positioned, which creates a beautiful visual effect. This repeated rhythm of the legs is a trademark of Belgian designer Jan Vlug.
